Why is O'Brien angry with Jorgenson?

O'Brien is angry with Jorgenson because Jorgenson forgot to treat him with shock treatmenet after he was shot. O'Brien trusted Jorgenson with saving his life, and Jorgenson froze up in his time of need. He was angry because he could have lost his life because Jorgenson didn't preform the way he should have, the way he was trained. "The noise and shooting and everything--my first firefight--I just couldn't handle it..."

Jorgenson did not help him like Rat Kiley did. Jorgenson froze when he say O'Brien come in wounded. O'Brien is angry with him because he almost died of shock because Jorgenson failed to help him or lessen his pain.

Who wouldnt be mad? Tim just got wounded in the rear and expects proper medical attention. His new platoon medic is obviously not used to combat and shows that he is not confident in his skills. In war you have to trust people you barely know. After O'Brien got shot, he trusted Jorgeson to provide him with proper medical aid. Jorgeson froze up. This medical mistake did not just effect the pain in the moment but took a toal on O'Briens dutys for the weeks to come.

O'Brien is mad at Jorgenson because of how much Jorgenson botched at trying to save O'Brien's life. O'Brien says, "It took the son of a bitch almost ten minutes to work up the nerve to crawl over to me. By then I was gone with pain. Later I found out I'd almost died of shock. Jorgenson bungled the patch job and a couple of weeks later my ass started to rot away." O'Brien had a terrible time, waiting for the new guy to save him, getting a bungled treatment, and almost dying. O'Brien was almost gangrene, so badly did Jorgenson screw up his treatment. O'Brien went through all of these things, because Jorgenson froze, because he couldn't keep his mind calm in the fire-fight. O'Brien knew that if it had been Rat Kiley, he would never had went through all that pain, and health complications afterwards.

Jorgenson was the new guy to the field. He had no idea what to do when the time actually came to treat wounded soldiers quickly. It is obvious that he did not meet Rat Kiley's standards and Tim O'Brien suffered because of his inexperience in the field. O'Brien felt alone and he almost perished from this wound to his butt. He despised Jorgenson and blamed him for the terrible pains he encountered on a daily basis. Also the teasing he got from the cream that seeped through his pants.

O'Brien held grudge aginst Jorgenson becuase when Tim was shot he went in to shock. Since Jougenson was new to the war he froze. He was so nervous that he didnt recognize that Tim was in shock. Tim described Jorgenson face as "scared-white" and his eyes as "buggy" these show how out of his element Jorgenson was.

What does getting shot in the rear do to Tim's dignity?

O'Brien is angry with Jorgenson because he failed to treat him for shock, almost costing him his life. He was angry because "it took the son of a bitch almost ten minutes to work up the nerve to crawl over to me." Jorgenson was trained to treat injury and shock, but froze up in the moment when O'Brien needed it. O'Brien was angry because he was a coward, and he had trusted Jorgenson to save him.

  9. this teasing is important...what did Jorgenson take away from O'Brien?

O'Brien is angry with Jorgenson because he waited to treat him when he was shot because he wasn't war ready and afraid. Also Jorgenson failed to treat him for shock and Tim ended up with gangreen keeping him in bed for several weeks.

O'Brian is furious with Jorgenson because he didn't treat him correctly. Jorgenson was completely green, and it was his first firefight. He was scared, and it affected his medical abilities. He froze up, which caused O'Brian to nearly die of shock. Then, he "bungled the patch job" on O'Brian's butt. The mistakes that Jorgenson made with O'Brian nearly caused gangrene, and O'Brian felt that he could never forgive Jorgenson.

O'Brien was wounded and Jorgenson was not there to help out he was frozen. O'Brien was in shock and because of that he almost died. He is thankful for Rat Kiley because he was the one there to help him out with his wound. Jorgenson was "green and incompetent and scared" He didn't know what to do. He couldn't stay calm and it made him suffer more then he could have

The reason why he is angry is because dang Jorgenson didn't give him the right medical attention. Jorgenson was not immune to the fear of shock and didn't know how to react to it when O'Brien was going under. Also Bobby does a terrible job to his rear when he patches it up. If he is suppose to be a medic, shouldn't he know how to treat wounds with a little more care?

O'Brien is hurt twice it the field, the first time Rat is there to help him through the first part of his injury, but after Rat gets hurt and O'brien gets hurt again a very inexpirenced medic comes into the platoon. He freezes because he is not accustomed to the sights and sounds of war. In his heistation O'brien had a sezirue and other bad things to follow

  15. Jorgenson didn't have the courage to take care of O'Brien when he was shot. He was a new medic and had never experienced the terror of war. The emotional pressure of the fighting got to him, and he couldn't adequately take care of O'Brien's wounds. O'Brien says, " To make it worse, he bungled the patch job, and a couple of weeks later my ass started to rot away."

Jorgensen takes O'Briens' trust in him. As some of the other people said, O'Brien trusted him with his life and Jorgensen just froze up. In the time of need, he wasn't there. Had Jorgensen done what he was supposed to, O'Brien would probably STILL trust him with his life. The main point is that he didn't though. Getting shot in the "rear" was bad enough for O'Brien, so he was already in pain and most likely not easy-going.

He his angry with him because he froze up. He did not do his job like he was supposed to. He was supposed to get to O'Brien quickly dress the wound and prepare O'Brien for departure but he waited too long and Tim eventually went unconscious and almost died. When he got to the hospital his wound became infected. This was also parly Jorgenson's falut. So Tim does have good reasons to be upset but he doesn't or refuses to remeber that he was probably just as scared as he was.

O'Brien got shot in the buttocks and was screaming in pain. Jorgenson just stared at him and took a long time to finally move to help O'Brien. When he did finally get there he did a bad job. Jorgenson almost let O'Brien die from shock and he didn't clean and compress the wound properly so it became contaminated with borderline gangrene. O'Brien is angry with Jorgenson for letting him suffer and for not properly tending to his wound.

I basically have to agree with everyone on this one. Jorgenson didn't do his job correctly and it almost cost Tim his life. Rat would have done it right, wouldn't have let the battle keep him from saving a life. Jorgenson messed up big time and he knows it.

I also agree with everyone on this one, but have a little bit more to add. I beleive that O'Brien is angry about the pain he endured from his but wound, and the humiliation that came with it. This wound has taken away the respect O'Brien used to hold. He is now teased by his fellow comrads in the new camp. O'Brien says, "Getting shot should be an experience from which you can draw some small pride."

-Everyone has good view points on this, but I'm going to agree with Jake. O'Brien did trust Jorgenson to treat him and expected him to do so. He was angered because he wanted Rat Kiley to take care of him because he knew that he would do so. O'Brien was teased after the fact, but wouldn't have if Jorgenson would have taken care of him like he was supposed to.

I did not understand what "shock" is really or how you can treat it...
I do agree with what everyone says. If someone has a job in war, and doesn't do it, that would make me mad too. Especially if that caused me pain and to be exhiled from my platoon.

O'Brien is mad at Jorgenson because of the simple fact that he forget the most basic thing when treating O'Brien's shot wound. He believes that Jorgenson should pay for forgetting to treat him for the shock of getting shot. I also that O'Brien is taking out his anger of not having Rat Kiley anymore out on Jorgenson.

Answering Ms. D's question, I believe that Jorgenson's failure in his treatment of the wound really hurt O'Brien's dignity. He was ridiculed daily for the stains that the ointment left on his pants, he was forced to leave the group that he'd been fighting with for a while now, and he was made to be an outsider when his group came in to his new station. His feelings were hurt and he felt like an outsider. If anyone can put theirselves in his place I'm sure they'd be able to feel his pain.

O'Brien is mad at Jorgenson for a couple of things. First of all O'Brien is mad that Jorgenson was so hesitant to treat him. Jorgenson was new to the war and he was scared to death of the shooting that he was paralyzed when O'Brien needed his help. O'Brien is also mad at Jorgenson because he didn't treat for shock like he should of, and O'Brien couldn't tell Jorgenson because, well, he was in shock. O'Brien is also mad though because of the stuff he had to go through like the medicine he had to put on the wound throughout the day. This had to be humiliating for O'Brien. Like Jimmy said the ridicule he recieved for this was damaging to his dignity. I also agree that the fact that he had to leave his company took a toll on him as well because when he met back up with his commrades they no longer accepted him.

O'Brien is mad at Jorgenson for a few reasons. First when O'Brien was hurt it took Jorgenson too long to treat him. Jorgenson was new to the war and was paralyzed by all the gunfire going on around him. When Jorgenson finally did treat O'Brien he forgot to treat him for shock, which almost killed Tim. O'Brien is also mad though because of the non physical things that he had to go through after his injury. I agree with Jimmy that the humiliation and ridcule he had to go thought because of the medicine he was required to apply during the day took a toll on him. I agree that the seperation from his company was hard on Tim as well because he felt like an outsider, and the people who were once his friends now shunned him.
